Will contest 35-A legally: Farooq

Srinagar, Aug 25:  National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that they will contest the petition on Article 35-A legally in Supreme Court.
Farooq was chairing an all party opposition meeting at his residence on Article 35-A. The NC patron informed the meeting that the party besides fighting the case politically will contest the petition legally in the Supreme Court.

“We will contest the petition legally. We will talk to our lawyer and contest the petition on Article 35-A. Since the hearing has been deferred, our lawyer will get time to study the case and contest the petition in Supreme Court,” Abdullah told the participants of the meeting.
Farooq informed the meeting that he has met Congress leader P Chidambaram, who will discuss the issue with their lawyers and may contest the petition in the Supreme Court.
Besides NC working president Omar Abdullah, the meeting was attended by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) State president, GA Mir, Independent legislators MY Tarigami, Hakeem Yasin and DNP president GH Mir and other senior leaders of the all the parties.
PCC chief GA Mir said that the meeting reiterated that the issue of Article 35-A is a concern of all the three regions of the State and people in these regions need to be informed and made aware about the importance of Article 35-A. “We are broadening the circle and support for the article,” Mir said.
