KOLKATA, Apr 26: Union minister JP Nadda on Sunday said there was “widespread enthusiasm” among people in West Bengal to unseat the TMC government, alleging the state was reeling under a “maha jungle raj”.
Speaking to PTI Videos on the sidelines of a roadshow in Bhatar, Nadda said, “You can see the extent of people’s enthusiasm, excitement and desire to overthrow Mamata Didi’s government and bring the BJP to power.”
“People want to say goodbye to this ‘maha jungle raj’,” he said.
The former BJP national president claimed that large crowds lining the streets during the roadshow reflected a strong appetite for political change in the state.
Later, at another roadshow in Behala Paschim in Kolkata, Nadda reiterated his attack on the Trinamool Congress government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing it of failing to ensure governance and development.
He alleged that corruption, law and order issues and lack of opportunities have fuelled public anger against the state government, and said the BJP is emerging as the preferred alternative.
Nadda also urged voters to support the BJP in the ongoing electoral exercise, saying the party is committed to bringing “development, transparency and good governance” to West Bengal.
The BJP has intensified its campaign across the state ahead of the remaining phase of polling, with several senior leaders holding rallies and roadshows in key constituencies. (PTI)
