JAMMU, Mar 28: BJP State spokesman and media incharge for Kathua, Udhampur and Doda Lok Sabha Constituency, Balbir Ram Rattan has taken serious exception to personal allegations leveled by Congress candidate from Udhampur-Kathua and Doda Lok Sabha Constituency against the BJP candidate and sitting MP, Dr Jitendra Singh.
While commenting on the statement of Congress, candidate, Vikramaditya Singh, Balbir said it does not behold good for a man of his stature to make personal attack on BJP candidate and indulge in misinformation campaign against BJP whose commitment to nationalism is unparallel.
Balbir in a statement issued here, today said for the information of Congress candidate that it was the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, late, Dr Shayama Prassad Mookherjee who laid down his life for the total integration of J&K State with rest of India by abolishing permit system. This was followed by the sacrifices of Prajaparishad activists who led a nationalist movement in J&K under the leadership of Sher Duggar Pt . Prem Nath Dogra and the Amarnath agitation during which dozens of people laid down their lives for national cause in Jammu is an eye opener for the Congress leader.
Balbir said Vikramaditya Singh, having few months tenure in Congress after deserting PDP, in fact, lacks knowledge about freedom struggle, its real heroes, meanings of family legacy and nationalism.
Ridiculing the Congress candidate’s statement, he said that a party which tie knots of ‘Dosti’ with the Kashmir-based regional political parties chanting pro-Pakistan slogans, insulting Indian symbols, calling their activists as ‘Mujaheedins’, cannot be expected of standing for nationalism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Balbir said that the Congress leader is also not aware that he is contesting election from a particular Constituency and need to claim achievements of his party in the said region instead of bringing in freedom struggle movement, more so, the personal legacy of his family. The fact is that two Congress leaders, remained Union Minister for many years holding important portfolios of Health, Civil Aviation and Tourism, while one was elected as representative of Udhampur Lok Sabha Constituency and another besides Union Minister remained CM of the State, so Vikramaditya should explain how many mega projects, including medical and engineering colleges, were brought and what steps were taken to explore tourism potential in the constituency and have they any match with Dr Jitendra’s performance?
While questioning the Congress candidate to explain as to who were responsible for forcing great Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh to lead an exiled life in a Mumbai, Balbir said that before talking of family legacy, Vikramaditya should also explain as to why he keep changing parties. Isn’t it lust for power? He asked?
