Western Command celebrates Golden Jubilee of 1965 Indo-Pak war

JAMMU, Aug 5: In the Golden Jubilee year of 1965 Indo-Pak war, Western Command has conducted a series of events to commemorate the sacrifices of martyrs and actions of gallant soldiers. One such event, ‘HAMARI ARMY HAMARI SHAAN’ was held at Sukhna Lake last evening.
The event was inaugurated by Lieutenant General KJ Singh, Army Commander, Western Command, with release of tricolor balloons extolling India’s victory over Pakistan.
The notes played by military bands mesmerized the general public. The musical ensemble of bagpipers and drummers captivated the entire gathering with tunes dedicated to the legacy of war heroes.
Residents of the Tricity witnessed unparalleled skills of our brave soldiers in unarmed hand to hand combat, traditional Sikh martial art Gatka and the art of fighting with Khukri. The large crowd gathered at Sukhna also performed Zumba fitness exercises along with soldiers.
The event also showcased famous battles fought during the war and children took special interest in learning about our heroes of 1965 war. The event revived old memories of veterans and made the younger generation feel proud about our Indian Army.
