SRINAGAR, Nov 29: Jammu and Kashmir Police is taking all the measures for the welfare of the jawans and in its next welfare meeting, it will take up the matter of health insurance for the NGOs and other ranks on the pattern of gazetted officers, Special Director General (DG) Law & Order and Coordination, S P Vaid said today.
A police spokesman said the Special DG, S P Vaid along with Inspector General Police (IGP) Kashmir SJM Gillani was on a day long visit to the twin districts of Pulwama and Shopian of south Kashmir where the Vaid chaired security review meetings and also addressed police darbars.
At Shopian, Vaid appreciated the role of the police in handling different situations effectively and professionally. During his address, he highlighted a number of measures including the increase in the ration money taken by the Government and police department for the welfare of the jawans.
Vaid assured the jawans that the department will continue its efforts in taking measures for the welfare of its personnel and their families in future as well, said the spokesman, adding that he advised the jawans to take due care of their health and should maintain the fitness levels as the job of the police demands a very good physique.
A number of jawans put forward their grievances before the Special DG, who ordered redressal of some of them and assured the jawans that redressal of the remaining greviances will be done on priority.
Vaid also chaired the security review meetings at both the districts which were attended by IGP Kashmir, SJM Gillani, DIG SKR, Nitish Kumar SSP Kulgam, SSP Pulwama, SSP Shopian, COs of CRPF, officers from SDRF, Telecom and CID, he said. Besides, all the jurisdictional officers including DySPs, SHOs and DOs attended these review meetings, the police spokesman said.
In his address, the IGP Kashmir SJM Gillani gave detailed briefing of the security situation in the districts. He impressed upon the officers to expedite the crime work and charge sheet the cases registered so far. He also stressed upon the jurisdictional officers to take all the preventive measures for strengthening the security of the two districts.
While addressing the officers at these review meetings, the Special DG directed the officers to make such an arrangement wherein all the jawans are continuously briefed to exercise maximum restraint while dealing with law and order situations. He impressed upon these officers to make smooth law and order management systems, the police spokesman said.
He directed the officers of all the security agencies to share the information between them for better results and for better coordination. The meetings were also address by DIG SKR, Nitish Kumar and respective district SSP.
