Both the Centre as well as the State Government launch welfare schemes for people.
MGNEREGA is one such ambitious scheme. Through this scheme, the farmers, during their slack period get 100 working days rozgar guarantee to augment their income after getting themselves registered. Under the pension scheme Virdh Awastha oldies in the stages 70-80, 80-90 and onwards are given pensions. In the field of education, we have got mid day meal scheme and RAMSA etc to attract the children especially from rural areas. Free books and stationery is made available to the students. In the health and medical field , too, many schemes and programmes exist.
If the schemes are implemented in the right spirit and with an ambitious zeal, India will really be called a welfare state.
