JAMMU, Mar 17: A valedictory function of week-long series of webinar/seminar on “Celebrating Womanhood” concluded at Government College for Women, Udhampur.
The event was organized by the Women Development and Empowerment Cell of the college as a tribute to the resilience, achievements and contributions of women in all spheres of life. The webinar series aimed at promoting gender equality, celebrating diversity and highlighting the importance of women’s rights and the spirit of ‘womanhood’.
Dr Ifrah Dil Nawaz, Medical Officer (BHMS), Dr Simran Preet Kaur, Asstt. Prof, Bhartiya Vidhya Peeth Deemed University, Pune, Lt. Col Ruby Garg, HQ, NCC, Maansi Gupta, Executive Director, MS Design School and Dr Piyali Arora, Asstt. Prof GDC, Udhampur were the distinguished resource persons.
The valedictory function served as a finale to the festivities featuring a lineup of distinguished speakers, cultural presentations and special recognitions. NCC Cadets from both 1&2 NCC Girls Bn, Srinagar and Jammu presented scintillating dance performances on the theme ‘Celebrating Womanhood’. NCC cadet Maanvi presented a beautiful self-composed poem on the occasion.
Prof Nalini Pathania, Principal, GCW Udhampur, while addressing the valedictory function, asserted that webinar not only provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and reflection but also fostered a sense of solidarity and empowerment among the students and faculty of the college. She emphasized on the need to create a balanced society where both men and women contribute in their own way.
The formal welcome address was presented by Dr Shivani Suri Verma, Co- convener WDEC and Dr Geetanjli Rajput, Convener, WDEC presented a detailed report of a week-long activities. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Kamal Deep Kaur, Member, WDEC.
The highlight of the valedictory session was the book release of Dr Kamal Deep Kaur, who has authored reference books for college students.
