JAMMU, Mar 10: One day webinar was organised in Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Raipur Bantalab here today.
Prof Showkat Ahmad Shah, Dean Education, University of Kashmir was the guest of honour.
The webinar was based on the theme “Teacher Education at Cross Roads” under which two topics–Challenges and issues in Teacher Education and Management of Teacher Education were taken up.
Prof Anjali Sharma, Dean and HOD Education, Central University of Rajasthan and Dr Iqbal Mohd Mattoo, Prof Department of Education, University of Kashmir were the keynote speakers.
Around 40 participants from different colleges participated in the webinar.
The programme started with the introduction part presented by Seema Bhat Lecturer, GMCEJ followed by formal welcome address by Satish Talashi, Principal GMCEJ.
Prof Anjali Sharma expressed her views on challenges and issues in teacher education and highlighted the importance of literary skills, role of multi disciplinary institution. She also stressed on structural arrangement of courses and professional development programmes like workshops, short term programmes etc.
Prof Showkat Ahmad Shah unlighted with the development of certain regular training programmes throughout the world. He also explained the importance of online mode in the present scenario of education.
The webinar ended with the vote of thanks presented by Hema Kaul, Lecturer GMCEJ.
