SRINAGAR, Oct 12: Police today busted a weapon snatching module in South Kashmir by arresting its three members.
A police spokesman said here that the weapon snatching module that snatched a rifle from a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man in South Kashmir’s Tral area and attempted to snatch more weapons in Pulwama yesterday comprised six members and three of them have been arrested so far.
Police said that after a weapon was snatched from a CRPF constable near Town Hall Tral in Awantipora Police district on Wednesday, police launched a massive manhunt.
The spokesman said that on specific information, Police in Tral detained Nazir Ahmad Rather alias Afridi son of Ali Mohammad resident of Dadsara, Tral in connection with the weapon snatching.
“During the questioning, Afridi revealed that he alongwith five others have planned and executed the attack and weapon snatching at Tral Town. He further revealed that same group is also involved in the attack on Police guard at Koil, Pulwama where they left behind the snatched weapon from CRPF constable at Tral”, the spokesman said.
“The other associates of Afridi who have been found involved in these incidents are Rafiq Ahmad Bhat alias Rafiq Dada resident of Astan-Mohallah Tral, Shakoor Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Koil, Pulwama, Aqib Ahmad Daboo son of Ghulam Mohammad Daboo resident of Wav Masjid, Tral, Ubaid Ahmad@ Molvi son of Mohammad Shafi Shah resident of Tral Payeen and Irshad Ahmad Khanalias Arkhan son of Abdul Rehman Khan resident of Lajoora, Pulwama”, the spokesman said.
The spokesman said that there is nothing against Aqib Ahmad Daboo son of Ghulam Mohammad Daboo resident of Wav Masjid, Tral, Ubaid Ahmad alias Molvi son of Mohammad Shafi Shah resident of Tral Payeen, Shakoor Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Koil, Pulwama and Irshad Ahmad Khanalias Arkhan son of Abdul Rehman Khan resident of Lajoora, Pulwama with regard to militancy related incidents.
Those arrested are Nazir Ahmad Rather alias Afridi son of Ali Mohammad resident of Dadsara, Rafiq Ahmad Bhat alias Rafiq Dada resident of Astan-Mohallah Tral and Shakoor Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Koil, Pulwama.
