KHANABAL, Aug 23: Pradesh Congress Committee president and former Minister Ghulam Ahmed Mir has said that Congress Party has always worked for equitable development of the State and people of all the three regions and any move to disturb the secular fabric of the State would be dealt with sternly.
“PDP and BJP are playing with sentiments of the people for their vested interests. Congress being a constructive opposition would fight for people’s rights to the best of its ability, PCC chief said while addressing day long party convention at Anantnag today.
Mir said Congress Party is strong enough to face any challenge and would always work for safeguarding the interests of the people. The politics of exploitation by coalition partners is aiming to gain political mileage. He cautioned the people and other secular forces against such elements.
PCC chief said Congress Party being a constructive opposition in the State would continue to raise its voice against anti- people policies of the Coalition Govt and would fight for resolution of issues confronting people.
Blaming present Coalition Govt for ignoring issues confronting people on political basis, Mir said that both PDP and BJP are losing ground fast and the day is not far when both the parties would be wiped out from the State. He accused the Coalition Govt of being biased and not fulfilling the promises made with the people.
Hitting out at Centre for its weak foreign policy PCC chief said NDA Govt led by Narendra Modi is confused on certain issues and is not able to take decisions. He said one man show at the Centre and weak foreign policy are going to haunt the nation.
Former PCC president Peerzada Mohd Syed said that Congress with a history of 130 years in service of the people would defeat those forces whole are hell bent upon to divide people on regional basis. Any move to disturb the secular identity of the State would be dealt sternly. He urged the party workers to remain steadfast in serving the people to the best of their ability.
Mohd Anwar Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Farooq Andrabi, Hilal Ahmad Shah, Surinder Singh Channi, Anayatullah Rather, Gulam Mohd Mir, Ab Qayoom Shah and Shaheena Nadaf also addressed the gathering.
