Water, power shortage, insanitation major issues

Will work for overall development: Dwarka

JAMMU: Second time Congress Corporator of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) from Ward Number 46 Dwarka Choudhary has asserted to work for the overall development of his ward.
The areas, which fall in this Ward are Sanjay Nagar Sector 1, Sector 2, Sector 3 and Sector 4.
While interacting with the residents it came to the fore that they are facing problems on several issues including water scarcity, power, insanitary conditions, deplorable conditions of lanes and drains, damaged street lights, etc.
“In this ward, people are facing problems due to water scarcity. Drinking water is not being supplied on regular basis. Due to irregular supply of drinking water, we cannot carry out our routine work including cooking food, washing clothes and utensils, etc”, Madhu Gupta, a resident said.
Uninterrupted power supply should be provided to each area of the Ward and we hope that our newly elected Corporator will do the needful to work out this issue, Pritam Singh said.
“The insanitary condition in our Ward needs immediate attention as it is the issue to be redressed on priority due to fear of breaking out of health related problems”, another resident said, adding that more manpower is required to tackle this insanitary issue.
The issue of dilapidated condition of the lanes and drains also figured during interacting with the residents, to which they asserted that they have elected a hard working and dedicated Municipal Corporator, who will sort out the issue in the shortest possible time.
When contacted newly elected Corporator of the Ward, Dwarka Choudhary, said that he will work for the overall development of the Ward. “In 2005 when first election of JMC was conducted, I was elected as Corporator and was appointed as Chairman of Social Justice Standing Committee. At that time, I worked for overall development of the Ward and in the future as well I will continue to work for the development”, he added.
All the issues including water scarcity, power, insanitary conditions, deplorable conditions of lanes and drains, damaged street lights, etc will be taken up with the concerned authorities for immediate redressal, he said, adding that he has been elected by the people and will work for them.
Regarding political background, the Corporator informed that he remained General Secretary of District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Urban, member of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and recently has been appointed as Chief Whip of Congress Corporators elected in recently held JMC elections by the Congress President GA Mir.
