Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘Water conservation’ DE Apr 22.
Despite knowing that water is a precious commodity which we cannot afford to waste, people hardly care for it.
We use water carelessly and without knowing the consequences which may face in the coming times. In cities particularly, there is great water consumption due to growing population. The problem gets further compounded due to depleting sources of water.
Come summer and water protests become a normal feature of life.
Despite this shortage, we are not in a position to assess the gravity of the situation. The Government too remains in sleep mode till protests provoke them to take some remedial measures to overcome the situation. It needs a proper planning keeping in view the future needs of people.
The measures as have been outlived in the said article need to considered and discussed for future planning. If we do not wake up now, we won’t wake ever to this problem.
Yours etc….
