Ware House merchants protest over gun-shot incident

JAMMU, Feb 14: Demanding immediate arrest of the unidentified criminals, who shot at and seriously injured a businessman last night, the wholesale merchants of Ware House today held protest.
As reported, some unidentified criminals shot at and seriously injured a karyana merchant of Ware House identified as Vipan Gupta, son of Kewal Krishan Gupta of Gandhi Nagar yesterday.
The victim was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where his condition was stated to be stable, when last reports came in today.
However, in protest against the incident, all the businessmen of Ware House held a protest demonstration. They were demanding immediate arrest of the culprits,  proper lighting system and total security.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and assured the wholesale merchants of immediate arrest of the culprits.
Meanwhile, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana visited the Ware House and assured the traders that their concerns with regard to shoot out will be taken up at the appropriate level.
Expressing shock over the shoot-out and solidarity with the traders, Mr Rana said there is immediate need of instilling confidence among the people by taking stringent action against the anti-social elements.
The protestors led by Rattan Lal Mahajan urged the Provincial President to impress upon the concerned agencies to gear up their personnel in order to instill a sense of security among the people, especially those associated with trade and commerce.
President Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Y V Sharma, President Retailers Association Y V Gupta and Jugal Mahajan were also present on the occasion.
On the assurance of the Provincial President, the traders lifted their dharna.
