SRINAGAR, Sept 21: Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today said that recent decisions of the Waqf Board are not against any body but for cleansing system and stop mal-practices.
“All those who looted Waqf, misused the public donations and income from the shrines and other properties for helping their supporters and blue-eyed persons will be booked soon after the verifications initiated are completed, Dr Darakhshan asserted.
She further said that new Waqf Board decisions were not against any individual but for cleansing the system of all malpractices. She said that the reformative decisions of Waqf will continue in the days to come too, despite the hate-statements of `some politicians’ having vested interests.
“Majority of people throughout J&K are happy with the Waqf Board decisions and only a few beneficiaries of the ill-practices and their political umbrellas are shattered. Waqf will be a clean, transparent, productive system of management now onwards and there is no scope for any favouritism in the clean working system,” Dr Andrabi added.
She was speaking at the Annual Day function of Islamia Hanfia Institute at Anantnag where she witnessed the talent of students and interacted with the children, teaching staff and the parents of the students.
Dr Andrabi was accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of Waqf Board, Dr Syed Majid Jahangir, Assistant Commissioner Anantnag Mohammad Shaaban and Magistrate of the Board Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin. After the colourful parade and cultural programme by the students, Dr Darakhshan addressed the gathering and released the white pigeons to signify the message of peace for all.
“Today on International Peace Day, I request all students of this prestigious institute to be the ambassadors of peace for humanity. We have seen a lot of bloodshed which has created hell out of our lives for three decades. Now, peace is at our doorsteps and we all have a responsibility to contribute in establishing a peaceful & creative atmosphere in J&K and make this place the real crown of our country,” Dr Darakhshan said.
Andrabi later paid a visit to the shrine of Reshmol Sahib and Qabamarg and inspected the ongoing construction works there. She also interacted with many public delegations and also spoke to the Waqf Board employees there.
