JAMMU, Apr 6: Terming the overall security situation in Jammu region as grim, the JKPCC has asked the visiting Home Minister, Amit Shah to explain the utter failure of his Ministry to contain the spread of terrorist activities in Jammu region in recent years.
Referring to the growing concern of the people over the worsening of the security situation in various parts of Jammu region, JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma (Adv) has said that the Home Minister should explain the failure of his Ministry to check rising terrorism in Jammu region, when UT is under direct control of his Ministry.
The terrorism was almost wiped out in Jammu region in the past two decades by the previous Governments but it has risen again from January Ist, 2023, when seven minority Hindus were martyred at Dhangri, Rajouri. Since then series of attacks continue in different parts of region including on army and security forces who have rendered several supreme sacrifices.
The BJP in opposition used to target Congress Government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh for the cross border terror incidents, so it’s BJP turn to answer to the nation why it failed to check terrorism for the last 11 years of its rule.
Reiterating the party’s demand for early restoration of Statehood as per repeated commitments by the PM and the HM Amit Shah, Sharma said that the dual system of governance under UT is harmful to the interests of common people. Home Minister should give timeline for the restoration of Statehood.
Shah should also explain his Government’s approach towards the 2014 package for refugees of 1947, 1965 & 1971 who were promised Rs 30 lakh per family but meagre amount of only Rs 5.5 lakh was sanctioned but rest components of package, reservation etc. are still not fulfilled.
Congress also questioned the failure of Modi Government to ensure the safe and dignified return of Kashmiri migrants in past 11 years and failed to enhance their monthly financial aid and other facilities and jobs, after Dr Manmoham Singh Govt’s package.
The Home Minister should explain the road map of his Government on their return and rehabilitation besides other special measures being taken by his Government.
Sharma strongly lashed out the divisive policies of Modi Government and said that Muslims.and other minorities are feeling isolated by the communal actions of BJP, which is dangerous for our unity in diversity of our nation.
Terming passage of Waqf Bill an assault on the basic spirit of secularism and concept of equality and freedom to profess religion as well as non- interference of the state into religious affairs of any citizen, guaranteed in the constitution, JKPCC has said that it has shaken the confidence of minority Muslims in the country ,who have developed a feeling that this Government wants them to treat like second class citizens in the country.
