SRINAGAR, Sept 1: A social activist Mohammad Waqar Bhatti was arrested on a complaint lodged by the Waqf Board Chairperson Darakhshan Andrabi.
An official said that during the night hours a police party of Police Station Shergari arrested one Mohammad Waqar Bhatti son of Mohammad Bashir of Saj Thanna Mandi Rajouri.
He was arrested by the PS Sherghari in Srinagar in a case (FIR No 52/2023 U/S 153 A 500 506 IPC) registered in PS Sherghari on a complaint lodged by Andrabi.
Bhatti had spoken against the recent decisions of Waqf Board in which it has decided to appoint Degree holder Imams in various Masjids.
His wife posted a video on Facebook alleging that her husband was arrested two days ago and were informed by the police about his arrest only today.
