SRINAGAR, Mar 10: The Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar today said that he wants to end pain in Kashmir and it is possible only if peaceful environment is created.
Sri Sri said that he wants to end pain in Kashmir. “Kashmir is a paradise on earth and people here are beautiful. I always visit Kashmir. I first time visited here in 1980 and every time I come here, I always see pain in people but they are still happy. My work is to end this pain and that is only possible if we create a peaceful environment here”, he said.
He said that he wants to see Kashmir like Switzerland.  “Many batches of youth from Kashmir often come to our institute in Bengaluru and receive skill development training. We have skill development institutes in Kashmir as well and I want to establish these institutes in every village of the Valley so that the youth will be self reliant. I want to see Kashmir like Switzerland where there will be peaceful environment and we all have to work for that”, he said.
Sri Sri said he had been invited by some “well-meaning people” to speak at “Paigam-e-Mohabat” (Message of Love) function.
He said the “well-meaning” people were working silently to address the problems faced by the people of Kashmir and his present visit was “apolitical humanitarian initiative.”
Participants at a function created noisy scenes and accused organizers of cheating them in attending it.
He, however, had to cut short his speech and a subsequent press conference as many people attending the function stood up and shouted slogans.
The angry participants said they had been cheated by the organisers who had promised them that their bank loans would be waived off at the function.
A statement issued by the AOL said his visit was “likely to have a far-reaching impact on the process of peace and trust-building.”  “He has been invited by common people of Kashmir who have formed the J&K Coordination Committee. The idea behind organising this event is to find a lasting solution to the age-old Kashmir conflict,” the statement said.
