Wagoora Health Centre

Health facilities provided at the Health Centre at Wagoora tehsil of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district continue to remain incomplete in all respects despite the centre having been set up five years ago. Inaugurations and fanfare are preferred more to other priorities as the building is more or less complete and was reportedly inaugurated in 2015 but health care centre is yet to start. In other words, it means nothing to the local people as they are forced to tread long distances of seven to eight Kms to get healthcare facilities.
The aggrieved people account for the rut to political reasons or what they put it as ‘indifference’ while Government authorities hold paucity of funds as the reason. The sum total is mess and confusion. These small projects are started with lot of hype but hardly do they reach the stage of completion and operation resulting in the public money spent on whatever stage yielding no utility or benefit and causing the people face difficulties. Whatever work is done, liability of Rs 20 lakh towards the contractors is still outstanding .Poor planning, no foolproof arrangements of funds, no monitoring and no accountability, all work in closeness which result in the type of what Wagoora Health Centre is all about. What, if this small project could be nursed under “Languishing Project” to see it getting completed.
