JAMMU, Aug 24: Scientists of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised ‘Village Visit Programme’ (VVP) at village Dug Chinni of Vijaypur block in Samba district under the dynamic leadership of Dr DK Arora, Vice-Chancellor.
A large number of farmers from village Dug Chinni and adjoining villages participated in the programme.
Team Coordinator, Dr Pranav Kumar, while extending warm welcome to the participants advised the farmers to deliberate on problems related to agricultural and allied enterprises, faced by them so that proper solutions could be suggested by the experts.
Interacting with the farmers, Agronomy expert highlighted the importance of sustainable cropping system and suggested them to change the existing cropping system with the alternate sustainable system viz Rice-Berseem, Rice-Potato-wheat, etc.
Plant Panthology expert made the farmers aware about the different diseases of rice, their symptoms and management practices.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer of Samba district stressed upon the need for maintaining record by the farmers for proper breeding and health management practices. He also gave tips for calf and heifer management.
