VRS employees of SRTC take out protest rally

JAMMU, Dec 26: Voluntarily retired employees of J&K SRTC today took out a rally from Exhibition Ground to gherao Civil Secretariat but the strong contingent of police foiled their attempt.
Hundreds of VRS employees of SRTC under the leadership of Dev Raj Bali, president, VRS Union assembled this morning at Exhibition Ground here from where they moved towards Civil Secretariat. However, the strong police force deployed by the administration at Dogra Chowk didn’t let them move forward.
Raising slogans against higher authorities of Transport Department and SRTC management, the VRS employees then staged protest at Exhibition Ground. While addressing the protesting employees, Dev Raj Bali said they have been struggling for their genuine demands for last more than eight years but despite assurances their demands are not fulfilled.
Reiterating their burning demands like release of 6th Pay Commission arrears with effect from January 1, 2006, Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) arrears since 1999, pension benefits and bonus @ 8.33% on basic pay, Bali appealed Transport Commissioner and SRTC authorities not to test their patience and fulfill their demands at the earliest.
