Voters awareness camp under Wakeup Jammu held

JAMMU, Nov 3: Continuing its activities under Wakeup Jammu Campaign under Systematic Voters Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP),  a mega voters awareness camp was organized at Model High School Satwari in which thousands of people drawn from all walks of life participated. Experts from ACD office Jammu sensitized the people about their right to vote and urged them to ensure their greater participation for stronger democracy.
E.V.M handling, online registration of voters, correction, addition, deletion and manual filling up of Form No. 6 etc. were also made available and people availed all these facilities.
A signature campaign was also launched on behalf of District Election Officer, Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu in which 100 people participated and pledged to vote on  December 20, 2014 and also aware their kiths and kins to participated in electoral process. ACD Jammu  Suram C Sharma , General Manager DIC Jammu  Vishal Sharma BDO Mathwar Tasir  Balwan  and other staff from ACD office Jammu were present.
Meanwhile, District Election Officer conducted a meeting cum awareness programme for all printing press owners of District Jammu. The meeting was attended by more than 50 printing press owners. President, Jammu Printers Association Jogindra Singh & President Jammu Offset Printers Association Pankaj Sethi participated in the awareness programme.
Detailed presentation was made by Addl. District Magistrate, Jammu  Kalyan Singh,  on various provisions of Model Code of Conduct as well as penal provisions related to printing press. They were apprised about the provisions of Section 134 (A) of  J&K Representation of Peoples Act 1957  which mandate every printer and publisher to give copy of material printed alongwith  detail of cost of material to the Chief Electoral Officer of the State, District Magistrate and the concerned Returning Officer upon printing of any election related matter, poster etc . No printer or person can order printing until authorization has not been obtained from competent authority.
