Voluntary blood donation camp organized

UDHAMPUR, Oct 3: To mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a one day voluntary blood donation camp was organized by the  Health Department Udhampur in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, and CRPF 137 Bn &187 Bn. The blood donation camp was held in the premises of the District Hospital Udhampur .
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary  was the chief guest on the occasion.
As many as 62 units were donated by the officers & jawans of CRPF and volunteers during the blood donation camp.
The DDC complimented the initiative taken by the Health Department and Indian Red Cross Society for the noble cause of saving ones lives. He also appreciated the civil society and officers and jawans of 137 &187 Bns CRPF for participating in blood donation camp.  He said that saving one’s life is the biggest noble cause and called upon the masses to come forward voluntarily to join the voluntary Blood Donation.
Dr. Shahid said that it is the  responsibility of every individual to create a healthy environment by keeping their surroundings neat and clean and supported the role of administration in making the swachh Udhampur city.
He said that for making the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan successful, administration has already launched many awareness programme at Panchayat and block level for generating mass awareness among the general public regarding the importance of cleanliness.
Earlier, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Chander Parkash flagged off a rally of students of ANMT School, Para Medical Institutions and volunteers to generate awareness regarding Swachh Bharat Abhiyan  from District Hospital Udhampur which after passing through different locations of the town culminated at District Hospital premises.
Later, DDC visited Garnai Panchayat and attended Gram Sabha in which he announced Rs. 1 lakh for development of Gram Panchayat. On the occasion Gram Sabha approved annual plan in presence of DDC Udhampur and launched cleanliness drive at Garnai. He also attended a cleanliness drive at Housing Colony Udhampur organized by MC Udhampur.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Rajeev Magotra, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Chander Parkash, Commandant 137 Bn CRPF, Mukesh Kumar,  Commandant 187 Bn CRPF,  S N Singh,  Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Udhampur. Dr V P  Sharma, Medical Superintendent DH, Dr N S Bhatiyal, senior officers of Civil and CRPF, Doctors, paramedics and volunteers   also participated in the programme.
