JAMMU, Feb 5: Governor N N Vohra, has addressed Mr Parrikar, Union Defence Minister, to seek his urgent intervention to expedite the extension of the Kargil airport runway from 6000 feet to 7500 feet. Operation of civil flights by commercial air operators is just not possible unless this runway is extended.
A Raj Bhavan spokesperson added that keeping in view the long pending demand of the people of Kargil for the operation of civil flights, particularly during winters, the Governor has urged the Defence Minister to issue directions for the IAF to complete the runway extension work on a time bound basis.
