Srinagar, July 5: The authorities in Kashmir are set to take strict action against those found violating the directives in the markets ahead of Eid-Ul-Azha while the habitual violators are also set to face the heat.
In this regard, officials of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) told Excelsior that they have already constituted nearly a dozen teams that have been tasked to carry out the market checking ahead of Eid, especially the mandis where the sacrificial animals are being sold.
“While those teams will work on the ground to ensure compliance to the law and keep a check on the black marketing, hoarding and overcharging, the rest of the routine enforcement will also be carried out ahead of Eid-ul-Azha,” Mushtaq Ahmad Wani Assistant Director, Enforcement told Excelsior
He said as a part of the aggressive enforcement ahead of Eid, 12 teams have been constituted by the department while the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar has also formed 12 teams that will work under the overall supervision of the concerned Tehsildars
“The teams formed by the Deputy Commissioner under a part of a detailed plan that has been put in place will also have one SMC officer, concerned SHO, TSO and will ensure that there is strict compliance of guidelines, particularly those selling sacrificial animals; these additional teams would be an extra push for the market checking,” he said.
Wani said that the Department has already set the rates for the sacrificial animals and that nobody would be allowed to resort to violations while impressing that those found to be involved in the violations will have to face the law.
