Villagers torch house of murder accused

Srinagar, Nov 21: Angry villagers today set ablaze house of a shopkeeper, who had allegedly killed an elderly person after a heated argument in Pulwama district of South Kashmir. Reports said the slain identified as Wali Mohammad Ahangar was hit multiple times on the head by Mohammad Shafi Bhat during a heated argument at the latter’s shop in Patthan village of the district last evening.
Ahangar was critically injured in the attack following which he was evacuated to a hospital. He succumbed to his injuries today morning. Another person was also injured in the assault.
As the news of his death spread, villagers ransacked the shop and residential house of the accused. They then set his house on fire.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the accused and booked him under Section 302. Police have also registered a case against the persons who ransacked and torched house and shop of the accused.
