UDHAMPUR, July 3: Residents of Surkhi village today staged protest demonstration against the PMGSY Department for dilapidated condition of under construction road from village Chowki to Surkhi in Udhmapur distirct.
They were chanting slogans against the PMGSY and in favour of their demands.
Locals alleged that they were suffering due to inordinate delay in completion of this road work, which was to be completed nearly seven years back.
“The construction work of nine kilometre long stretch was sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) with vide number JK14-308 in the year of 2011 and it was decided that the work would be completed within one year from the date of commencement but after lapse of eight years from the date of commencement, the construction works of the road is still incomplete,” said locals.
They further alleged that they repeatedly apprised the department concerned about the dilapidated condition of the road and even filed a complaint in ‘Mari Sadak App’ but nothing has been done so far. “The potholes developed on the under construction road and water-logging are posing threats of accidents”, they added.
