UDHAMPUR, Aug 9: As the people are without electricity for the last six days, locals of Meer block in Panchari held a strong protest against Power Development Department (PDD)., here today
Shouting slogans against PDD authorities, the protesting villagers also took out a rally and demanded immediate restoration of power. They lamented that Meer block in Panchari is in dark for the last six days. “We are paying hundreds of rupees as power tariff but not getting electricity as PDD has failed to exchange the 25 kv transformer, which is not functioning since last Friday,” they said.
Due to the power failure, people’s of the area are suffering a lot while students are not able to study during night hours.
The protesting villagers threatened to gherao the PDD authorities if the power supply is not restored within a day.
Similar protest against PDD was held by villagers of Chaor in Panchayat Galiote Mora,
They alleged that despite their applications more than a year ago, they were not being provided electricity connections by the PDD authorities. They also demanded a probe into the matter.
