UDHAMPUR, Aug 13: Up in arms against no electricity supply to the maximum area of their villages, students and locals of village Gulla Ban, Adhubai and Anjad in Panchari tehsil today held a protest against Power Develop-ment Department (PDD).
They were demanding installation of poles and transformers for extending the electricity supply to the entire area of these villages.
The protesting villagers informed that a Transformer was installed in the area in 1982 and the electricity was provided through some wooden poles. With the passage of time, some of these wooden poles got damaged and the invalidated area of these villages increased but the electricity supply network was not expanded with the result that 90 percent area of these villages are without electricity, they explained.
The villagers rued that despite repeated pleas to the elected representative and the district administration, there was no response towards their plight and demand.
