UDHAMPUR, Apr 2: Locals today protested against worst condition of under construction PMGSY road from village Shatrari to Malothi in Ramnagar Tehsil .
The protesting villagers, led by social activist Advocate Sanjeet Baboria, raised slogans against the PMGSY Department . Even after more than six years since commencement of the work, this six-km long road has not been completed by the Contractor for the reasons best known to the concerned authorities, the villagers rued.
Work on this six km road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was started in August 2012 and it was to be completed in 2013 after spending an amount of Rs 280.15 lakh. However, according to the locals, the road work was never completed on ground and despite repeated complaints to the PMGSY Department and even on Mari Sadak App, there was no action against the concerned contractor.
These days the condition of road is so bad that sick and elderly persons or pregnant women going to Ramnagar hospital can’t travel on this stretch, which is full of potholes, inviting accidents. Besides, school going children are suffering most because of bad condition of the road, which needs to be completed, the villagers said and added that other PMGSY road started after this one are almost completed.
