Villagers protest, demand repair of Govt school

UDHAMPUR, Feb 5: The students of Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramnagar and local villagers held protest and demanded repair of school building.
They were also demanding internal infrastructure and filling up of the posts of teachers. The protesting students and villagers raised slogans against the Education Department and Udhampur District administration.
They said Principal of this Government Higher Secondary School had given a written report to higher authorities about urgent repair work and other issues but no grant was released in favour of this school building. Worst is the condition of six class rooms. The roof has been damaged. During rains the children face lot of hardships. Ths buildsing is lying unsafe for many years.
There is shortage of six teachers and the vacant posts were not filled up. There is strength of over about 1200 in the school. The locals alleged that they send representations to CEO Udhampur manyh times but he had no impact of the genuine issue of the students. They sought intervention of concerned Advisor and Commissioner Secretary School Education department into the matter.
