Villagers protest, demand completion of pending works

KATHUA, July 4: The residents of village Daknakha in Panchayat Basantpur of block Kerrian Kandyal today held a protest demanding completion of pending works started before the lockdown.
The residents raised slogans demanding completion of lanes and drainage works that were left abandoned due to lockdown. The villagers said that lanes work undertaken by Rural Development Department with an estimated cost of Rs 4 lakh is lying pending.
The protesting people said that the work was stopped by department midway due to which people are suffering. The protesters alleged that the Rural Development Department is playing in the hands of Sarpanch and bungling has taken place in developmental works.
They stated that the development works are undertaken only in vote bank mohalla and opposition people are widely ignored by Sarpanchs.
They demanded an inquiry into the matter and also completion of roads and lanes work at the earliest. Among others Naib Sarpanch Kamlesh Kumari, Tirth Ram, Balak Ram, Thuru Ram and Krishan Chand participated in the protest.
