The agitated villagers, including a large number of women, gathered at the spot and raised slogans against the district administration and Power Development Department (PDD).
The protestors alleged that electricity poles had been installed in their areas, but wiring had not been laid, leading to repeated power interruptions and outages, especially during peak hours.
In a bid to escalate the protest, the crowd started marching towards Baradari Bridge. However, they were stopped midway by local police.
Later, officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (JKPDD) arrived at the scene and assured the villagers of prompt action to resolve the issue. Following the assurances, the protest was called off peacefully.
Locals have warned that if the situation is not resolved at the earliest, they will intensify their agitation in the coming days. The protest was joined by NC workers led by zonal secretary Raj Kumar.
