POONCH, Apr 25: The residents of Mohalla Tangala at Chandak village in district Poonch on Monday held a protest against the Jal Shakti/PHE Department for failing to ensure a regular supply of drinking water to the area for the past weeks.
A group of residents including women staged a protest on the Chandak-Poonch road, bringing traffic to a halt for some time. They were shouting slogans against LG’s Administration, PHE department and also against BJP.
The locals alleged that the locality was not receiving water supply for the last about two weeks. As Ramzan is going on, the people are facing various problems due to lack of water supply.
The protestors said that they had taken up the issue with the concerned authorities on several occasions but no body listens.
“We are unable to understand why the concerned authorities are doing nothing to redress our problem,” said an aggrieved female protestor.
Later, a police party along with two Jal Shakti Department officials reached the spot and assured the protestors of supply soon after which protestors left the site and cleared road.
The residents said that if their problem was not addressed within 24 hours, they would once again block the road.
