Srinagar, June 15: Irked by the dilapidated condition of the road, residents of Chak Mohalla in Qazipora village of Chadoora in Budgam district today came out and planted paddy on the road which is in shambles, while seeking its immediate macadamization.
The residents, as a form of protest, planted paddy saplings on the road while stating that the road is of no use to them as the administration has turned a blind eye towards the condition of the road.
The residents said that the authorities never showed any interest in repairing the road despite the village being just 6 km away from Chadoora Tehsil, headquarters.
“The road is in dilapidated condition as the stretch has not been repaired for the last one decade due to which we are facing numerous problems,” the residents said,
They said that they took to the streets several times to press for their demands but nothing happened, “as the concerned authorities failed to take measures to ensure that the road is repaired and our issues are resolved,” the residents said.
The locals also rue the official indifference about the addressal of their issues as they said that they approached the concerned authorities several times, but of no avail.
“We have brought the issue to the notice of the concerned department which is R&B, they listen, but do nothing,” the residents said.
They said that they are facing difficulties particularly when there is an emergency. “Several times, we have carried the patients on our shoulders while passing through this dilapidated road,” they said.
The villagers have appealed to the district administration as well as the concerned departments to take note of their issue.
