Srinagar, Feb 1: Hundreds of residents of Ratnipora today barged into the Power Development Department’s receiving station in Narwa in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and vandalized essential equipment, plunging the whole area into darkness.
The irate residents were protesting against the PDD for curtailing electricity to their village without following any schedule.
Executive Engineer, PDD, Transmission, Mirza Ayoub, said at least hundred villagers had barged into the station and damaged vital equipment.
He said the restoration of electricity will take more than four days as power cables, batteries, protection relay and other vital equipments have been damaged.
He said the department has informed the police to file a case against the villagers.
However, the villagers dismissed the claims of the PDD.
