Villagers block Reasi-Shivkhori road to protest against no water supply

REASI, May 2: The residents of Kheral village of Pouni tehsil held a strong protest, here today, against PHE Department over its failure in providing adequate supply of drinking water to the localities.
Amidst raising of slogans, they blocked the main Reasi -Shivkhori road for more than 3 hours. Because of road blockage by the protesting people, Shivkhori pilgrims had to suffer as their vehicles remain stuck in the protest for three hours in this scorching heat. Army vehicles were also seen stuck in the protest.

“Despite repeated requests to PHE authorities, the problem of water scarcity was not solved due to which people held protests against the department and blocked the main road, plugging all entry and exit routes”, the local Sarpanch said.
The protestors assembled at 9.30 am at the Talli Morh on Reasi-Shivkhori road and blocked it for more than 3 hours. Protesters raising slogans against the concern department and district administration, alleged that due to callous approach of the PHE authorities, the normal life in the area was affected. The protesters said that they have repeatedly brought the matter into the notice of the concerned authorities but all remained in vain.
“Even we have staged protest many a time to register our resentment but no action has been taken in this regard till date and the water supply is still as it used to be, making people to face the worst,” a local said.
The protesting people dispersed of after authorities from Police and Civil administration assured to address their grievance with regard to water scarcity. The protestors, however, threatened to intensify their agitation in case the problem was not addressed on priority basis.
