MENDHAR, Feb 11: Three policemen were injured in an attack by accused’s family members and neighbourers when they had gone to arrest a wanted criminal in Harni area of Mendhar Sub Division today.
A Police spokesman said that an FIR No. 2/2021 under Section 366/109 had been registered against seven people. In this connection, a police party from Gursai Police Station was deployed to nab the accused. When the police party reached the house of an accused at Gluta village in Harni, the police party was attacked by the family members and villagers with stones. They managed to get the arrested accused person free from the policy party.
They also damaged the police vehicle and then escaped. During attack, three policemen were injured, who were later admitted to the Sub-District Hospital, Mendhar.
The injured policemen have been identified as Constable Shahid Ali Khan, SPO Nisar Ahmed Khan and SPO Rizwan Ali Khan.
According to one of the injured person, they were attacked by more than 100 people with stones and sticks and his vehicle was also damaged. Later, additional force was sent to the area but no arrest was reported till late this evening.
SDPO Mendhar Sheezan Bhatt said that in this connection a case has been registered at Police Station Gursai against the accused persons and their families. Action under law will be taken against the attackers.
