Vikramaditya calls on Governor, discusses current scenario

JAMMU, Feb 7: Former MLC, Vikramaditya Singh  today called upon Governor N N Vohra and  discussed with him the current political scenario and other important matters pertaining to J&K.
Singh  conveyed the public anger and distress over the miserable plight of the border residents who were once again displaced and suffered huge losses during the recent ceasefire violations along the border in Jammu.  He also lamented  that despite Government assurance, bunkers have not been constructed in most areas.
Vikramaditya also apprised the  Governor about the growing drug menace in Jammu and the problems arising from addiction of youth. He said that continuous drug awareness programs and setting up of rehabilitation centres must become a priority for the State. Vikramaditya mentioned issues relating to lack of job opportunities for the educated youth and public distress caused over allocations done by PSC in Jammu. He said that Jammu was being choked by intense ceasefire violations along the border and encroachment by illegal settlers from outside the State starting from Kathua and running along the Tawi. He said this is a very major cause of concern for all citizens of Jammu.
During the meeting, Vikramaditya Singh also handed over the Governor a copy of the letter of his recent resignation as MLC.
Earlier, several local organizations and members of civil society called on former MLC, Vikramaditya Singh to apprise him of their growing concerns. These included Hotel & Lodges Association, Paryatan Vikas Mandal, Brahmin Sabha, Jammu Development Council, Muslim Etihad Front and Bajrang Dal.
