Speaker kick-starts development works, takes stock of public grievances

JAMMU, Feb 7: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today conduct an extensive tour of Nai Basti and its adjoining areas to take stock of development works and public issues.
During his visit, Speaker kick started the developmental works at Ram Leela Chowk to be executed by the Jammu Municipal Corporation at a cost of 4 lakh.
While inspecting the Nullah passing from the area of Nai Basti and Ram Pura, the Speaker gave on spot direction to JMC to immediately remove the garbage from the Nullah to ensure proper sanitation.
The Speaker also directed the concerned authorities to prepare DPRs of different development works including renovation and construction of lanes and drains in the area so that the work are taken up soon.
Responding to the demand of construction of deep drains in the area, the Speaker said that a project to the tune of Rs 5.28 crore has been sanctioned and work on the project would start within a week’s time .
While inspecting the face lifting work of Vijay Park at Nai Basti, the Speaker directed the Floriculture Department to ensure works are completed in the fixed timeline.
People of the area apprised the Speaker with their demands regarding renovation of lane and drains and proper sanitation. The Speaker gave patient hearing to them and assured that their genuine demands would be fulfilled in a phase manner.
The Speaker said that a number of development projects have been launched in Gandhi Nagar constituency with an aim to provide better amenities to the people.
