JAMMU, May 16: In order to mitigate the situation arising out of the COVID pandemic, Vigyan Parishad (VIBHA- Chapter J&K, including Ladakh Prant) organized two- day online Yoga session for school and college students to create an awareness among them about the breathing and yoga techniques for maintaining sound physical and mental health.
In this regard, Manik Salathia, a well-known Yoga instructor and acupressure therapist, conducted session emphasizing more on the holistic development of the body by making use of the tools and techniques which we have inherited from our ancient literature. He demonstrated, for the benefit of young students, the processes one has to follow for maintaining good state of eye sight and vision. He physically demonstrated all kinds of asnaas which the students found quite useful. A great deal of time was spent by him to teach the breathing exercises which could be useful for improving the lung capacity.
Presiding over the event, Prof Rajni Kant, President of Vigyan Parishad (VIBHA- Chapter J&K, including Ladakh Prant), emphasized the need for dissemination of knowledge on yoga and breathing techniques amongst the young generation so that they grow up and develop as healthy beings for a better nation. He said that his team is actively engaged not only in rendering this kind of service to the students but also encouraging scientific talent of the UT by way of organizing national level test under the aegis of Vidyarathi Vigyan Manthan, held annually.
Nearly one hundred students from various schools and colleges participated in this online session. The programme was conducted by Dr Dhiraj Vyas, Secretary Vigyan Parishad, and it was attended by all the executive committee members of Vigyan Parishad namely, Prof Praveen Lehana and Prof Pawanesh Abrol (Vice Presidents), Samir Vohra (Organising secretary), Dr Deepak Beyotra (Joint Secretary), Pankaj Gupta (Treasurer), Tinni Sahwney (VVM, Co-ordinator), Ajay Verma.
