SRINAGAR, May 21: Vigilance Organization Kashmir today registered a case into the alleged fraud in scholarship funds of Pahari speaking/Gujjar Bakarwal students in the Education Department, Zone Boniyar of district Baramulla during the financial year 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12.
A case FIR No 19/2018 U/S 5(1) (c) 5(1) d, r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Act Svt 2006 & Section 201, 120-B, RPC has been registered on the outcome of a verification conducted by Vigilance which looked into the allegations of fraud.
The enquiry revealed that the then Zonal Education Officer, Zone Chandanwari namely, Abdul Rashid Mir in connivance with the then dealing assistant namely, Bashir Ahmad Lone and others under a well knit conspiracy fraudulently inflated the figures of Gujjar Bakerwal and Pahari speaking students, obtained excess funds from CEO Baramulla on account of scholarship and later on by fudging/misplacing the records besides disbursing the scholarships only to actual number of Beneficiaries, misappropriated the excess funds.
Therefore, by resorting to such practice, the said public servants by abuse of their official position caused loss to the State exchequer. Accordingly a case has been registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir and the investigation of the case is going on.
