SRINAGAR, Mar 24: In two separate cases, the Vigilance Organization Kashmir today produced challan against the then Executive Engineer (REW) Ganderbal and Executive Engineer (R&B) Division Khanabal.
Challan of case FIR NO: 02/2014 against Ghulam Nabi Dar, the then Ex. Engineer (who has since then been retired as Dead wood ) and Mohammad Shamim Parra, the then orderly in the office of the Executive Engineer (REW) Ganderbal, was produced before Court of Special Anti-corruption Judge Srinagar, presided by Yaspal Bourney.
The instant case was registered on the basis of a written complaint by Abdul Majid Lone who alleged that the Executive Engineer was demanding for processing his bill on account of executed work of Apna Panchayat Ghar at Halqa Sarfaraw-A at Kangan. Acting on the complaint, VOK laid a trap in which Mohammad Shamim Parra, the then Orderly in the office of the Executive Engineer (REW) Ganderbal was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 3,000/- as bribe from the complainant on the instance and direction of the above said Executive Engineer.
The investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the accused persons and after the accord of Government sanction in favour of Mohammad Shameem Para for launching prosecution, the challan of the case was produced for Judicial determination. The next date of the case has been fixed on 27.04.2016.
In other case, FIR NO:33/2006, challan against Manzoor Ahmad Dar, the then Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) Division Khanabal Anantang Kashmir, was produced in the Court of Special Judge Anti-corruption Anantnag, presided by Rajeev Gupta.
The accused Engineer has allegedly accumulated huge assets, disproportionate to his known source of income, by abusing his official position. During investigation it was established that the accused had a 2-storeyed concrete house at Bulbul Nowgam Anantang over 1 ½ kanal of land, purchased one more kanal of land adjacent of the said house. He is in possession of 3 shops which stand rented out. The accused has also constructed a house at Malik Market Narwal Jammu known as Hafiz House in the name of his brother in law. The accused was also found in possession of huge cash saving, LIC policies, golden ornaments and other valuable property.
It was established that the accused has accumulated disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs. 36, 00,000/- to his known sources of income and he failed to produce any plausible explanation/defence in this regard.
At the time of production of the Challan, the accused was present in the court and was released on bail. The next date of hearing of the case has been fixed on 18.04.2016.
