Vigilance books Xen, others for misappropriation of Govt money

SRINAGAR, July 25: Vigil-ance Organization Kashmir today registered a case against then Executive Engineer R&B Division Bandipora and others for misappropriating Govern-ment money.
The case was registered on the basis of a verification conducted into the allegations that the Executive Engineer,   by abuse of his official position during the year 2013-14, despite code of conduct, had drawn huge funds from Government Treasury for purchase of furnishing items for Mini Secretariat/Guest House Bandipora and for execution of other works.
The officers/officials,  namely Rajander Kumar Bhatt,  the then Executive Engineer,   Manzoor Ahmad Malla,  the then Asstt  Accounts Officer,   Nazir-ud-din Baba, Sr  Asstt and  the then Store Keeper of R&B Division Bandipora,  by abuse of their official position and in furtherance of criminal conspiracy with the supplier Rakesh Bhat,  Proprietor of M/s Shalimar Flooring Pvt  Ltd,  Bari-Brahmana Jammu (SSI Unit),  had  shown supply/receipt of furnishing items to the quantity of 18,100 sqft and 290 Sqmtrs.
However,   during the verification, only 8089.85 Sqft. were found existing on ground thus, putting the State exchequer to the loss of Rs 12, 85,399/- by way of misappropriation of deficit/non-existent furnishing items.
The omissions and commissions on the part of the above named public servants constitute offences punishable U/S 5(1)(c), (d) r/w 5(2) 4-H (Amended) J&K P.C Act Smvt. 2006, 120-B, 167-A, 420-A RPC.
In this behalf, case under FIR No. 15/2016 P/S VOK was registered and further investigation was taken up.
