SRINAGAR, July 7: The Vigilance Organization Kashmir (VOK) booked a Sub-Inspector of Excise and Taxation Department over corruption in South Kashmir.
A VOK spokesman said that Javid Ahmad Shah alias Rafiqui, resident of Babanar in Shopian, who presently lives at Drusoo village of neighbouring Pulwama district, was booked for possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A case under FIR number 32/2015 under Section 5(1)e r/w 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt. 2006 has been registered against the accused.
“The case was registered after verification revealed that the official by abuse of his official position indulged in corrupt practices and accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income,” the spokesman said.
He said after obtaining search warrant from the Court, simultaneous searches were conducted at five different places today morning including the residential, official and business premises of accused official and the residential houses of his relatives at Shopian, Pulwama and Qazigund. “During the course of search, incriminating documents were seized which are being scrutinized. Investigation of the case is in progress,” the spokesman added.
