JAMMU, Feb 7: Dr. Tej Partap, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology – Kashmir, and Prof. M. P. S. Ishar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, called on N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan, here today.
The Governor, who is Chancellor of both the Universities, discussed with the Vice Chancellors various important issues relating to enhancing the teaching and research capacities of these varsities for developing them into centres of excellence.
Issues relating to forging productive collaborative arrangements among all the Universities in J&K, for maximizing the benefits of available infrastructure and human resources to make the State an educational hub of the country and providing best benefits to the students, were discussed at some length in the meeting.
It is to be recalled that the Vice Chancellors of all the Universities in J&K, including the two Central Universities, have already agreed among themselves to set up the J&K Inter-University Forum under whose aegis Dr. Tej Partap, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, had convened the first meeting of all the Vice Chancellors in J&K at SKUAST-K in October 2012.
This meeting, chaired by the Governor, had decided that various member Universities will in rotation, hold meaningful programmes which are jointly organized.
Dr. Tej Partap and Prof. Ishar briefed the Governor about the first such programme being organized by Jammu University later this month.
