RAJOURI, Apr 5: To reach out the common people of border district Rajouri and to address their grievances, MLC Vibodh Gupta today took a series of public meetings at Bal, Dhangri, Gunni and Saranoo, where people shared their miseries.
Ex-Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent citizens of the area apprised the MLC about problems like exaggerated Electricity bills being served to them, non-availability of water connections, missing road connectivity and work done liabilities under MGNREGA.
Vibodh Gupta patiently listened to the locals of the different areas and said that coalition Government was committed to implement all the welfare schemes in the most transparent manner to ensure benefits to the needy ones. He said that the administration has been made more responsive and accountable to the people to achieve the discernible results on ground and serious efforts are being made to address public grievances on fast-track basis.
Promising to develop Rajouri as model district, Gupta said that this segment remained neglected by the previous regimes and all efforts would be made now to strengthen the essential infrastructure, like road network, electricity, drinking water, education, health services and sanitation facilities for the convenience of the people. He said that the Coalition Government was trying hard to bring the State on world tourism map.
The MLC informed the public that roads under PMGSY, which were left abandoned by the previous Government, have now been taken up under 10th phase and Rs 326.00 crores have been released for 68 number of roads all over the district and work on the same shall be started soon. Regarding water scarcity in the areas, he said that a total of 628 pumps have been repaired (Rajouri-178, Darhal-122, Kalakote-141, Nowshera-187) during 2016-17 and DPR for water tanks shall get prepared especially for these areas to provide uninterrupted water supply to the general public.
Vibodh Gupta said that he shall not only bring an end to the miseries of the people but also strengthen their faith in the country’s democratic discourse thereby helping them in rejecting the path of violence and bitterness.
