VHP constitutes committees to assist flood victims

JAMMU, Sept 10: To help the flood affected people in their rehabilitation and provide relief to them, VHP has constituted Committees in Poonch, Rajouri, Sunderbani, Akhnoor, Pargwal, Kathua and other parts of the Jammu province.
This was announced by VHP patron, Dr Rama Kant Dubey while talking to reporters here today. He said floods created a lot of havoc in the State and the committees constituted by VHP are actively assisting the flood affected people in close coordination with military and civil administration.
He said the teams constituted are regularly visiting the affected areas for providing help in evacuation of victims and also assessing their losses. They will send a comprehensive report to the VHP Headquarters, he added.
Dr Dubey lauded the role of Army, Navy, Air Force and other para military forces in relief and rescue operations saying that they have not spared any stone unturned to evacuate the flood victims and provide food, medicines and clothes to the needy without bothering for their lives. He further sated that it is only the Army who has done this commendable job when civil administration has totally failed.
Dr Dubey said that as reported by volunteers of VHP, the civil administration has not reached to the affected people in Bailicharana, Gangyal, Gorkha Nagar, Rajiv Basti and other affected places. The civil administration also failed to reach the far flung areas of Reasi, Rajouri and asked the civil administration to look in this regard and provide relief to all the affected areas.
He demanded that relief amount should be distributed by Central team instead of civil administration so that the relief and financial assistance will reach to the affected people.
He also made an appeal to people to come forward and make liberal donations. Dr Sham Lal  Gupta, general secretary VHP, Dr Joginder Pal its Mahanagar president, Ashok Gupta Gou Raksha Pramukh, Prem Pal, co treasurer VHP were also present in the press conference.
