The BJP leader, while talking to media, said the situation has changed a lot in trouble-torn Kashmir and there is discernable change in ground situation in the Valley after the abrogation of controversial Articles 370 and 35 A. He said peace has been restored in the trouble -torn Valley and the flow of tourists has increased to a great extent. Last year record number of tourists visited Kashmir which is a testimony to the fact, he added while taking on those elements spreading canards on Kashmir and trying to mislead people on this account.
Chugh, while turning tables on such elements, said the Kashmir is rapidly limping back to normalcy and the time of curfews, stone pelting and bandhs is over now. The era of despotic and dynastic rule is over and it has been replaced by good governance. At present the rule of law prevails in the UT.
“The present Government in J&K is taking all public friendly decisions and it is working for overall interests of people of the UT”, he added.
Chugh said the democracy has been fully restored in J&K after August 5, 2019 and thousands of Sarpanchs and Panchs got elected in entire UT. The basic institutions of democracy were empowered and strengthened. The BDC and DDC elections were smoothly held, he added.
Chugh said 22 lakh people exercised their votes in DDC elections in the UT electing 280 candidates. Besides, women , Schedule Castes, (SCs) Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Paharis who had been deprived of their rights for decades together by dynastic parties were empowered by Narendra Modi Government whose basic mantra is ‘Sabka Saath and Sabka Vikas’.
The BJP national general secretary, while denying the charges about curbs on media, said press as well as electronic media are working independently in J&K and there is no interference in their functioning. “They work smoothly without any interference from administration and there is happiness all over the UT”, he added.
Chugh regretted that some people in great desperation after being ousted from power by the people are hell bent to tarnish the country’s image but they will never succeed in their vicious designs as entire country is solidly behind ‘Vikas Purash,’ Narendra Modi who is leading the country to make it world leader.
He said those who are raising fingers about Kashmir situation today should recall the situation over eight years back. “Present situation in Kashmir is far better than that”, he added.
While making a dig at National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chugh said when the mass exodus of minority Hindus from Kashmir took place in 1989 and 90, NC president, Dr Farooq Abdullah was Chief Minister of J&K having alliance with Congress at that time while Late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed was the Union Home Minister. They failed to instill confidence among the minorities at that time and ensure their security, he added.
The BJP leader said that Narendra Modi Government is committed to ensure security of the people and protect every inch of the country.
He also made it clear that Modi Government has zero tolerance about terrorism and corruption and said that the nation is being run by the Constitution. There is no where written in the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that some ruling dynasties indulging in corrupt practices and looting the resources of country should go scot free. They have to face the rule of the law for their all omissions and commissions.
He said instead of issuing statements that investigation agencies are being misused, they should cooperate with these agencies fully.
On the former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia , Chugh said entire Delhi knows who gave contracts of liquor shops and opened these shops in front of schools and colleges in Delhi. The people involved in Rs 3000 crore liquor scam in Delhi have to face the rule of law, he added.
