Ventilators non-functional in SDH Mendhar

MENDHAR, Sept 27: Due to lack of oxygen plant and non-availability of anesthetic doctor, the ventilators at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Mendhar are non-functional.
As per reports, the rising cases of COVID-19 pandemic has created fear fiasco among the people especially old age and children.
“An ailing woman was admitted in SDH Mendhar and later found COVID positive. She was shifted to Jammu, but due to non-availability of bed, the lady was again brought back and admitted in the isolation ward of SDH. The lady was kept on oxygen cylinder, but she breathed her last next morning”, the reports said, adding that due to non-functioning of ventilators, the woman died.
The people of Civil Society here have expressed their concern over non-functional of ventilators at SDH Mendhar.
While talking to the Excelsior, Balram Sharma, Ashish Malik, Rajat Kapoor, Ajay Sawhney and Khursheed Ahmed said that district administration should wake up from deep slumber as Coronavirus cases are raising rapidly.
“Government and District Administration Poonch should take immediate measures to make the ventilators functional at SDH Mendhar so as to save precious lives”, they added.
When contacted, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Mendhar Dr Parvez Khan confirmed that five ventilators at SDH Mendhar are non-functional. For the past 4 years, there is no anesthetic doctor available at SDH and without him/her, it is not possible to make ventilators functional, he added.
“I wrote to higher authorities for appointing anesthetic doctor at SDH, but all in vain”, BMO stated.
“After completing the survey of installing oxygen plant, a report has been submitted to higher authorities”, he said, and asserted that oxygen plant will be installed in SDH as soon as possible.
