Vehicle of bovine smuggler attached

RAMBAN June 1: Police here today attached a vehicle worth approximately Rs. 8.5 lakh under Section 107 of BNSS.
The action was taken during the investigation of FIR No. 39/2026, registered under Section 223 of BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
According to Police, the investigation revealed that owner of the vehicle had allegedly amassed disproportionate assets through proceeds generated from bovine smuggling, theft and other unlawful activities. Further inquiries established that the vehicle was purchased using proceeds of crime linked to bovine smuggling and theft.
Based on the findings, Ramban Police approached the competent court and obtained attachment orders. Acting on these orders, cops formally attached the vehicle in the presence of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Banihal.
The attached vehicle bears registration number JK14L-0237 and was owned by Ghulam Qader, son of Ghulam Ali, a resident of Ghangara, Udhampur district.
